Code of Conduct

Many churches, clergy and wedding clients are understandably concerned with the way photographers conduct themselves at Weddings.  As a “Code of Conduct” for information and clarity, Craig Schmidt works with the following guidelines of dignity and respect in mind at the Weddings he photographs

1) Attire – Craig Schmidt dresses in professional clothing appropriate for the event. Craig will NEVER be at a Wedding with a t-shirt and blue jeans, or less than professional attire.

2) Schedule – If other events are going on the day of the wedding, Craig understands that Wedding Photography becomes SECONDARY to these other events. Keeping in mind that a certain amount of time is needed to do the photography, we do appreciate being alerted to any schedule conflicts or concerns so arrangements can be made for the photographs.

3) Language – some photographers, will either say or ask people to repeat off color sayings of an irreverent or sexual nature in an effort to get smiles. This is very offensive in a church setting and it absolutely WILL NOT HAPPEN with Craig! Certainly we use humor and fun, but with good taste and respect in mind.

4) Lights – Craig often does use studio flash units on stands powered by standard wall current as he photographs portraits before and after the ceremony. These lights will be completely removed and group photography completed at least ½ hour before the scheduled start of the ceremony.

5)During the Ceremony – Craig will take ONLY existing light photographs (NO FLASH) from the moment the couple arrives at the altar, until the moment the couple is announced at the end.  Furthermore, Craig will position himself ONLY in the back of the church at this time. He NEVER takes photographs AT nor ON the Altar during the ceremony. Outside this time frame, Craig takes flash photographs of the “processional” just before the ceremony, and the first kiss & “recessional” just after the ceremony.

As an Award Winning Professional Photographer in business since 1987, Craig has always used these guidelines to capture the most precious moments of the day for the Wedding Couple, while maintaining the respect and dignity of this most sacred event. He challenges all other Wedding Photographers to do likewise. Please let Craig know if there are any further concerns or conflicts.
